2023 Blueberry Harvest Update

2023 Blueberry Harvest Update

The anticipated 2023 crop will be about 59 million lbs. fresh, and 126 million lbs. processed, for a total of 185 million, which is up slightly from the prior year. Prior to the 2023 crop there was an excess of IQF blueberries in US freezers, and buyers were looking for much lower prices than 2022. However, the US Government came in a purchased a substantial portion of the remaining 2022 IQF carryover. The weather in the Pacific Northwest was perfect and the fresh market was very strong leaving many IQF packers short on blueberries to fill their IQF demand. Pricing has firmed up if you can find the IQF grade you are looking for. Demand for juice concentrate and puree remain soft from 2022 and pricing has softened as well.
